The International Centre for Policy and Conflict is registered in Kenya under the Trustee (perpetual succession) Act as a nonprofit and nongovernmental organization fostering democratic, peaceful, secure and just societies in the great lakes region and the horn of Africa by promoting the principles of justice, accountability, the rule of law and sustainable human security.

These goals are accomplished through policy advocacy, research, documentation, information sharing ,capacity building and technical assistance.
